During his official visit to Germany, President Rumen Radev met with his counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin, as well as with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. "We have full understanding from Germany when it comes to our calls for derogation from Russian oil import ban," the Bulgarian President told reporters, pointing out that he was satisfied with the German understanding of all important positions for Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian government has already announced that without a derogation, Bulgaria could not support the new package of sanctions against Russia.

Asked by reporters about the war in Ukraine, Radev said a solution must be found in order to end the conflict as soon as possible, "because each day of this war is a loss not only for Ukraine and Russia, but for the whole of Europe."
