The 146th anniversary of the exploit of revolutionary-poet Hristo Botev and his detachment is to be commemorated in Vratsa tonight with a solemn tattoo and roll call.

President Rumen Radev is expected to deliver a speech to mark 2 June, the day of Hristo Botev and all people who have laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria. Earlier in the day a memorial service took place at the Holy Ascension church in Vratsa; school and university students honoured Hristo Botev in the locality of Yolkovitsa, the scene of his death.

Tomorrow, the memory of the heroes will be honoured on Okolchitsa peak, where the last battle of Botev’s detachment took place. Prime Minister Kiril Petkov is to take part in the event.
