Bulgaria reports sharp rise in number of new Covid-19 cases

595 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours out of 5,300 tests performed, or 472 more as compared to the previous day, Single Coronavirus Information Portal data show. 57% of the new cases are among the unvaccinated. 11% of the tests have returned positive result.

The highest number of new cases was registered in Sofia- 215, followed by Plovdiv-53 and Varna-46.

The number of active cases of coronavirus infection amount to 60,930. 63 people have been admitted to hospital in the past day. 71% of them were not vaccinated. 329 people are being treated in hospital, as 26 of them are in intensive care units.

1 person with established coronavirus infection have died in the past day. 987 have been reported cured.

666 vaccine doses were administered on Monday. 2,061,478 is the number of people with a completed vaccination cycle. 763,957 have had a booster shot.
