Ukrainian army hits bridges over Dnipro

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for international inspectors to be given access to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in Ukraine. “Any attack to a nuclear plant is a suicidal thing,” he said at a news conference in Japan, where he attended the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony on Saturday commemorating the 77th anniversary of the world's first atomic bombing.

“There is no such nation in the world that can feel safe when a terrorist state fires at a nuclear plant,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his nightly video address. “God forbid, if something irreparable happens, no one will stop the wind that will spread the radioactive contamination,” Volodymyr Zelenski said, and added he had talked to the President of the European Council Charles Michel and informed him about the situation on the battlefield and about the threat that Russia created by striking at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

The Ukrainian aviation once again hit the strategically important Antonivskyi bridge over the Dnipro River which the Russians are trying to repair. The Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant bridge has also been hit, the Ukrainian Military Operational Command South says. Russian positions and military depots on the right bank of the Dnipro river in Kherson region have also suffered HIMARS hits. Seven settlements have been hit, most notably the transport and logistics centre Melitopol.
