President Radev visits flooded areas, meets families in distress

Rumen Radev

President Rumen Radev expects the government to act quickly to provide assistance to the flooded areas. Bulgaria’s Head of State visited the village of Karavelovo. He met with families in distress and saw the damages caused by the recent calamity.

"Now the most important thing is to continue the inspections to make sure there are no people at risk, there is water and food", Rumen Radev stressed. He thanked the rescue teams for their good job, which prevented the loss of human lives.

Meanwhile, caretaker Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev said that an investigation will be launched to ascertain whether illegal logging carried out in the area is also the cause of the flood. The situation in the village of Trilistnik remains critical, as the water level in the area is between 40 and 50 centimeters, said Chief Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, Director of Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate.
