Non-performing fast loans in Bulgaria increase

In September 2022, non-performing fast loans in Bulgaria increased with 23.2% year-on-year to a total of BGN 346.4 million (EUR 176.7 million), statistical data of the Bulgarian National Bank show. For comparison, a year ago the amount of bad loans amounted to BGN 281.1 million (EUR 143.7 million), or BGN 65.3 million (EUR 33.3 million) less than the current level. Demand for fast loans increased in 2022 reaching the pre-Covid levels. More than 70% of the amounts were granted to households.

At the end of the third quarter of 2022, the number of bank deposits of households decreased with 2.9% on an annual basis. Meanwhile, the amount of money deposited in banks increased. Deposits between BGN 50,000 (EUR 25,000) and BGN 100,000 (EUR 50,000) are prevalent.
