US Senate confirms the nomination of Kenneth Merten for new ambassador to Bulgaria

The US Senate has confirmed the nomination of Kenneth Merten for new ambassador to Bulgaria, the US Embassy Sofia said. He is expected to arrive in Bulgaria in the spring of 2023.

"Ambassador-designee Merten is a highly distinguished diplomat, with 35 years of experience in the Foreign Service, and his appointment reflects the strategic importance the United States places on our partnership with Bulgaria", the US Embassy Sofia wrote.
