The discount of 25 stotinki per liter of fuel at gas stations in Bulgaria for individual consumers will remain in force next year as well, Minister of Economy Nikola Stoyanov announced to bTV. The reduction in the price will now be financed by the excess profit of the oil company Lukoil and not by the state budget.

The minister reiterated that the company has contributed BGN 90 million in advance tax to the budget.

"We are working in a direction so that this measure in the future could be aimed at the most vulnerable groups - people with lower incomes, and at compensation measures for public transport, but they have not yet been drawn up," he specified.

The idea is that people with income of up to BGN 1,000 will receive a document from the municipality, with which they can choose from a package of measures - among them discounted travel on public transport and the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ).
