Prosecutor’s Office to ask US for basis of Magnitsky sanctions on five Bulgarians

Several days after the USA sanctioned five Bulgarians (Vladislav Goranov, Rumen Ovcharov, Alexander Nikolov, Ivan Genov and Nikolay Malinov) under Magnitsky, Bulgaria’s Prosecutor’s Office said that it would request the US authorities to provide information about the basis for including them in the updated Magnitsky list. The request will be sent via the Ministry of Justice.

A similar request was also made in 2021, when three Bulgarians (Delyan Peevski, Vasil Bozhkov and Ilko Zhelyazkov) were sanctioned under Magnitsky.
