Defense Minister: Bulgaria supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine

"Bulgaria stands firmly behind the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine", caretaker Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov said during a meeting with the newly-appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Sofia Olesya Ilashchuk. Minister Stoyanov briefed Ambassador Ilashchuk on the decisions of the National Assembly to provide humanitarian, military and technical assistance to Ukraine. "Our country is also taking part in the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM). Bulgaria is ready to train combat medics upon Ukraine‘s request", Dimitar Stoyanov said.

For her part, Olesya Ilashchuk thanked Bulgaria for the assistance provided to Ukraine, as well as for the support for Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Ambassador Ilashchuk emphasized that Ukraine has always been a loyal partner of Bulgaria and expressed hope that the effective cooperation between the two countries will continue.
