GERB party leader Boyko Borissov is not ruling out a “constitutional government” as an option for forming a cabinet.

“Changes to the Constitution also require no less than 160 votes (out of the 240 members of parliament – editorial note), and in the coming few days there could be shuttles on the matter,” he told reporters in the National Assembly, and added that if next week a government is not formed, there will be no state budget. In his words, the revenues to the treasury will go down by almost EUR 765 million, and sometime between the 10th and the 14th of June “we will stop paying out salaries and pensions”. Besides the budget, the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Eurozone and the funds are also at stake here, the former prime minister said.
