GERB freezes negotiations on formation of government with We Continue the Change

“We are freezing the negotiations on the formation of a government together with We Continue the Change (PP),” said GERB’s nominee for rotation prime minister Mariya Gabriel.

She gave a special briefing after a sitting of the GERB party leadership, called after an audio recording of a meeting of the We Continue the Change National Council was leaked

“I kept my silence for a long time, guided only by prudence and a concern for the country. We are freezing the negotiations, there’s a limit to everything. My own limit is that I cannot accept a democracy that is based on a lie, on undermining the foundations of statehood, and failure to observe the fundamental principles of the republic. Not to mention the lies about myself – that is not the problem. The problem is that what we may have here is a vision and a style of governance that runs counter to all European principles and practices,” Mariya Gabriel said.

“We have made all kinds of compromises. But compromise is one thing, it is quite another thing however to allow aggressive bolshevism to come to power. I understand the call for compromise, but it is no compromise to support a government that aims to dismantle the republic. There is a huge difference between self-sacrifice and suicide, said on his part GERB deputy chair Tomislav Donchev.
