The 75th edition of the national march in the footsteps of Bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev and his band, from Kozloduy to the historical peak of Okolchitsa, has started. The hike in memory of Hristo Botev is the oldest in Bulgaria and participants from all over the country walk the 120-kilometer route for five days.
This year, nearly 1,500 people participate in it, as 1,200 of them are students. According to Evgeni Filipov, long-time leader of the initiative, the march teaches young people patriotism, discipline and respect to the values of Bulgaria. Filipov also points out that the revolutionaries passed this route guided by the thought of Bulgaria's liberation, therefore the participants in the march must proceed with respect and bow to the memory of the heroes.
