The XVI Spring Book Fair and the Sofia International Literary Festival for Children and Youth has opened in the capital in front of the National Palace of Culture. A record number of 144 publishing houses are participating. Until June 4, more than 40 book premieres, meetings with authors, translators and illustrators are coming up. There will be a parallel program in bookstores and literary clubs.
"I don't have wings like the birds, but books give me wings. Being a reader is a power that no one can take away from you," Prime Minister Galab Donev said at the opening.
