“I most strongly condemn the attack on Nova Kakhovka dam which endangers numerous civilians, poses serious risks to environment as well as threatens security at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Those responsible for this outrageous act should be held accountable,” President Rumen Radev wrote on Twitter.

The UN Security Council ascertained that it is abundantly clear the dam wall inside the Russia-controlled part of Kherson region was destroyed by an explosion in the machine rooms of the hydro-electric power plant. Ukraine accused Russia of blowing up the facility to cause massive flooding and stop the Ukrainian counteroffensive. Russia is saying that the Ukrainian troops shelled Nova Kakhovka. Thousands of civilians in the region have been left destitute and cannot be evacuated.
