United Group and the American Parallel Wireless have agreed on conducting technical trials of a new technology ORAN (open radio access network) in Bulgaria.

Parallel wireless is the supplier of the ORAN technology which covers all generation networks - 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G. The technical tests in Bulgaria will be conducted in a cluster of sites that demonstrates the successful implantation of ORAN networks in urban and rural environments. The trial’s purpose is to show equivalent or improved performance compared to traditional radio access networks (SRAN). The trials will include laboratory and field tests to ensure the technology can perform. ORAN allows for the construction of mobile networks using components from different infrastructure, hardware and software suppliers.
