Rain and lower temperatures expected in Bulgaria on Sunday

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in many places in Bulgaria on Sunday, with hail conditions, mainly in the afternoon hours. Daytime temperatures will drop aa highs will be between 26 °C and 31 °C, higher in the Upper Thracian plain, in Sofia - around 26 °C. 

On the night of Monday, there will be precipitation and thunders in Central North and North-Eastern Bulgaria, as significant amounts are expected in places there.


Cumulus clouds will develop over the mountains. There will be precipitation and thunderstorms before noon in some places and in the after noon in many places. A moderate north-westerly wind will blow and with it the temperatures will drop. The maximum temperatures at a height of 1,200 m will be about 20 °C, at 2,000 m - about 13 °C.

It will be mostly sunny and warm along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast during most of the day. Later in the afternoon, the cloudiness will increase, in the evening hours and on the night of Monday it will rain and thunder in places. A moderate, mostly easterly wind will blow. The maximum temperatures will be 26 °C-29 °C, and the sea water - at about 24 °C .

Over the Balkan Peninsula, rain clouds will develop with brief thunderstorms. It will be rainless and mostly sunny only in the extreme north-western regions. It will be 32 °C in Athens, in Istanbul – 29 °C, in Bucharest – 27 °C, in Belgrade – 25 °C.

The weather will be sunny on the Iberian Peninsula, Western and Central Europe. There will be brief thunderstorms in the British Isles. In the Scandinavian Peninsula, sunny weather will prevail with more significant increases in cloudiness over the northern and southern regions and there will be rain in isolated places. Cloudiness will be mostly significant over Eastern Europe.

It will be 29 °C in Chicago and it is expected to rain. It will be sunny in New York with 28 °C, in Cape Town - 17 °C and in Melbourne - 12 °C.
