The assessment includes indicators such as military equipment, personnel, economic potential, logistics and geopolitical conditions. The 2023 index covers 145 countries. Out of 11 countries in the Balkans, only Serbia and Kosovo are not members of NATO. Turkey has the 11th most powerful army in the world. Turkey and Greece lead in the region with an index of 0.2016 and 0.4621 respectively, followed by Romania with 0.7735. Bulgaria and Serbia have equal indicators of 0.9757 and 0.9571 and are ahead of Croatia with 1.2141. Slovenia is rated at 1.7261, Albania at 1.84660, North Macedonia at 2.1717. The regional ranking is completed by Bosnia and Herzegovina with 3.0788 and Kosovo with 3.2863.
