Ukrainians living in Bulgaria will today climb Cherni Vrah peak on Vitosha Mountain near Sofia on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day, which is celebrated on August 24. This is what Anastasia Prodanski, a Ukrainian who has been living in Bulgaria for years, and now helps Ukrainian refugees in Bulgaria, told BNR.

"We will go up to Cherni Vrah peak, we will sing songs, we will play games. It is very important for us to send a message to all Ukrainians that we support them," said Prodansky.

For August 24 itself, the Embassy of Ukraine in Bulgaria is preparing a celebration from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre in Sofia. A procession with embroidered shirts from the Taras Shevchenko monument to the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, a fair with Ukrainian craftsmen, entertainment for children, workshops for children and adults are planned.

At 7:00 p.m., flowers will be laid in front of the monument to Taras Shevchenko on Vazrazhdane Square in the capital.
