No land from the State Land Fund will be sold, Bulgaria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev said in an interview with BNR. President Rumen Radev warned that he could veto the 2024 state budget, because of information about such an intention. Bulgaria’s Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev said that the sale of state-owned land is not on the agenda and that the head of state is quoting fake news.

Minister Kiril Vatev explained that he had received an inquiry from Deputy Minister of Finance Georgi Klisurski what would happen if 70,000 hectares of land from the State Land Fund were sold for EUR 174 million. Kiril Vatev replied that these lands are leased for EUR 46 million a year, that it is not profitable to sell them and the topic was closed.
