The capital programme of the Road Infrastructure Agency for 2024 amounts to EUR 850 million. More than EUR 600 million are earmarked for investments in Northern Bulgaria, said Bulgaria’s Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Andrey Tsekov. Minister Tsekov spoke at a conference of the newly-elected mayors and chairmen of municipal councils, organised by the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria. The key investments will be in Hemus motorway, Ruse - Byala motorway and the Vidin - Botevgrad expressway, Andrey Tsekov pointed out. He expressed hope that the route of the Black Sea motorway will be confirmed in early 2024.

Losses in the water supply network are about 55%. Investments to the tune of EUR 500 million are needed to reduce these losses. However, the annual investments do not exceed EUR 100 million, Minister Tsekov admitted. Andrey Tsekov urged the municipalities to invest in sanitation and water supply to avoid rising prices for consumers.
