Patriarch Neophyte continues to be treated in the Military Medical Academy in Sofia. This is what Metropolitan Anthony of Western and Central Europe, who replaced the patriarch in the Christmas Eve and Nativity services, told BNT. 78-year-old Patriarch Neophyte was hospitalised at the end of November over lung disease.

According to the metropolitan, doctors are taking care of the patriarch's recovery, but access to him is limited due to the presence of various viruses.

We all pray for his health and that God will grant us a much more peaceful, healthy and successful year, Metropolitan Anthony said.
