Sofia Menar Film Festival opens with Kazakh comedy "Wild Onion"

 The sixteenth edition of the Sofia Menar Film Festival opens tonight at the Sofia House of Cinema. More than 40 feature films, documentaries and shorts from the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa will be screened. The programme will also include thematic events dedicates to the countries of the region, as well as to the customs and traditions of the various ethnic groups.

The first film to be shown is the Kazakh comedy 'Wild Onion', which won an award at the Venice Film Festival. 

The Sofia Menar will run until 28 January. Many of the selected films are also available online.
