Wineries along Struma Valley to hold open doors days in mid-February

In 2024, wine cellars along the Struma River will open their doors to visitors on February 17 and 18 after the day of vine growers and winemakers, BTA reported.

Each cellar will be open to the public and will offer a free wine tasting and programme for guests. They will also be able to try a variety of local and dairy products from producers in the area.

The Sandanski-Petrich valley and the Melnik region are the first wine destination "Struma Valley" to receive official wine tourism route status from the Ministries of Agriculture and Tourism. It includes cultural and wine-making sites, farmers' markets, natural landmarks and emblematic sites from the cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria.
Along the Struma Valley the climate is transitionally Mediterranean with a terroir that experts compare to that of the Southern Rhône in France.
