New Italian NATO military contingent arrives in Bulgaria

A solemn rotation ceremony of the Multinational battle group, led by Italy and hosted by Bulgaria, took place at the Novo Selo training area. The battlegroup commander Colonel Michelangelo Genchi handed the command over to Colonel Mariano Scandurra. 

The ceremony also marked the rotation of the Italian military contingent. In his speech, the commander of the Multinational Division Southeast in Romania Major General Dorin Tomaexpressed his personal gratitude to Bulgaria as host country. He laid emphasis on the professionalism of the troops from the multinational battle group and the successful training and exercises conducted. “The Italian troops have contributed to the security of NATO’s Eastern flank,” said, on his part, Major General Krasimir Kanev, commander of the Joint Forces Command.
