Bulgarian government makes new proposal to the protesting farmers

For the fourth day, Bulgarian farmers continue the hourly blockades of roads and intersections in different parts of the country. I expect today's meeting with the protesters to be final and to end successfully.

This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev, who opened the forum AGRI SUMMIT 2024 in Sofia.

The government has a new proposal for grain producers. "For the smallest - the biggest amount, for the medium-sized - less, for the largest - very little". For farmers with up to 300 hectares, there is no limit to the financial assistance. The state budget can ensure payment under this scheme, he assured.

He added that BGN 150 million (EUR 75 million) has been allocated to support the other sectors - the producers of milk, fruit and vegetables, on which there is already a consensus with the protesters.
