The number of Bulgarians ready to fight for their country has increased by 5 percent

30% are Bulgarians who would fight in defense of their country in the event of war. 42% are not ready, the rest are hesitant. In 2014, 25% of Bulgarians expressed readiness to defend their homeland. 47 percent said they would not defend the homeland. 

In terms of their attitudes, Bulgarians are closer to Western Europeans, according to a Gallup International survey from the end of 2023, conducted in 45 countries and representative of more than half of the world's population.

Compared to 10 years earlier, fewer and fewer people in the world are willing to fight for their country. 32% of EU citizens are ready to defend their country. 41% are the American patriots willing to sacrifice their lives and among Canadians it is 34%. In Russia, 32 percent of respondents declared willingness to fight, in Ukraine - 62%. 

In Asia, the average percentage of those ready to fight is over 70 percent.
