The national "March of Books" campaign is being launched in Sofia today on International Children's Book Day and Hans Christian Andersen's birthday.

Part of the campaign is the "Reading Classroom" initiative, which combines 15 minutes of reading a day in schools with activities to encourage students' creative expression. Another initiative is "Famous Bulgarians Read to Children" with the participation of writers, artists, athletes, politicians and journalists. The programme also includes a "Reading Marathon" in libraries across the country and the awarding of the national "Magic Pearl" prize for children's favourite book, voted for by children.

The "March of Books" will continue until 23 April under the patronage of Vice-President Iliana Iotova.
