Bulgarian open water swimmer Petar Stoychev swam the Molokai Channel in Hawaii. ''From dark to dark! I swam the most difficult and longest channel of the Oceans Seven swimming challenge. The Molokai Channel in Hawaii is 45 km long. I started the swim at 3:01 a.m. from Kepuhi Beach on the Island of Molokai. I swam the distance in 18 hours and 53 minutes and finished at 9:54 p.m. on Makapu'u Beach in Oahu." In the final 10 km, Stoychev battled a strong headwind pushing him away from the shore.
Stoychev has conquered 4 of the Oceans Seven marathons - the English Channel, the Cook Strait, the Strait of Gibraltar and the Molokai Channel.
