One of the most anticipated cultural events in Sofia in the summer starts today. For the 13th year, the A to JazZ festival will transform South Park 2 of the city into a shared, creative and environmentally-friendly cultural urban scene. Music lovers in the capital city will be attracted by a diverse music selection, but not just that.
The music forum supports local artists and artisans and this year this finds expression in what is expected to be the largest art bazaar to date.
Organizers have reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability, promising new and better models of waste management and carbon footprint reduction, as the use of single-use plastics will also be minimized during the event.
There are even more interesting facts related to green festival thinking. The transport of the artists who will appear on the A to JazZ stage is fully electrified and visitors are encouraged to come on foot, by public transport or by bicycle, as a special bicycle parking lot has been provided. As of this year, A to JazZ is also introducing measurement of its environmental footprint and has set itself the ambitious goal of introducing the best sustainability practices from festivals in Europe over the next three years. The topic is also widely represented in the conference program accompanying the music forum in Sofia. Managers of some of the largest festivals such as Coachella /USA/, Primavera Sound /Spain/, Glastonbury /UK/, O.Z.O.R.A / Hungary/and others will share good practices.
“With A to JazZ, the focus has always been on the music and the stage,” says the founder of A to JazZ Petar Dimitrov.
The program of the festival this year includes more than 30 performers, as among them are names such as saxophonist Chico Freeman and pianist Antonio Farao in the Mccoy Tyner Legends project, Cyrille Aimé, a the singer who mixes the music of the Caribbean and the sophisticated jazz sound, the American jazz-funk duo Knower, Polish jazz star Kinga Glyk, the Austrian Syndicate project of jazz pianist David Helbock ... and many more talents from all over the world, as well as Bulgarian artists with their latest jazz albums.
There are many occasions to plan our summer evenings until July 7 according to the program of A to JazZ – an event with unique atmosphere that enriches the tourist image of summer Sofia.
