Caretaker Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov has started another round of renegotiation of the agreement with the Turkish gas transmission operator BOTAŞ. On Wednesday, he met with his Turkish counterpart Alparslan Bayraktar in Istanbul.

On August 15, representatives of BOTAŞ will visit Sofia for a meeting with Bulgargaz. By its decision of April 19, 2024, the Parliament instructed the Minister of Energy to take the necessary actions for the renegotiation of the agreement for the use of the Turkish LNG terminals and gas transmission network.

The Turkish side has also asked Ministers Malinov and Bayraktar to discuss the possibility of Bulgaria providing additional water for irrigation to the region around Edirne due to a prolonged drought, the Ministry of Energy reported.
