The fire that broke out last Thursday at an altitude of 2,300 meters in the Bayramitsa area above the village of Bistritsa and lasted for 8 days has been contained. Firefighters, forestry workers, military personnel, teams of the Rila National Park and volunteers have been combating the fire, which covered over 60 acres. Heavy machinery was used to make roads and access points for specialized firefighting equipment. The fire was eventually extinguished with the help of rain that fell last night. Firefighting teams and teams of the State Forestry- Dupnitsa are currently inspecting the area below Cherni Vrah in Rila to determine if there are still any active hotspots or smoldering fires.
