Traditional food, old crafts and music during "Balkan Rug" Festival in Shishkovtsi

Exhibitions of traditional rugs and clothing from the beginning of the 20th century, a bazaar of handicrafts and agricultural products, a competition for the best home-made rakia and a rich music program are part of the first day of this year's edition of the International "Balkan Rug" festival in the village of Shishkovtsi, near Kyustendil. 

The festival starts today and will continue until September 15. On September 14, the event will continue with a folklore program of ensembles from Bulgaria, Serbia and the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as a demonstration and exhibition of baked foods. An exhibition and demonstrations of old crafts, as well as tug-of-war and arm wrestling tournaments are scheduled for September 15.
