Bulgaria’s support for Ukraine in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression was the focus of a meeting between caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov and Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria Olesya Ilashchuk, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. "Our support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering, consistent and will continue for as long as it takes", Minister Kondov said.
Ivan Kondov and Olesya Ilashchuk discussed Bulgaria's participation in the International Crimea Platform, the G7+ meeting on providing energy support for Ukraine, the future Ukraine Peace Summit, the preparation of the Victory Plan, which Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will present during his upcoming visit to the United States, as well as the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Bulgaria is also strongly committed to the post-war recovery and modernization of Ukraine, Minister Ivan Kondov added. In this regard, the close cooperation in the energy sector, especially in view of the preparation for the upcoming winter season, was emphasized. The reconstruction activities in areas inhabited by the Bulgarian historical diaspora in Ukraine, primarily in the Odessa region, were also highlighted as crucial for the overall recovery of the country.
