Caretaker Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev opened the 19th International Exposition “Cultural Tourism” in Veliko Tarnovo, with the participation of 10 countries as well as 30 Bulgarian municipalities.
In his address, Minister Miloshev pointed out that tourism is a highly dynamic and evolving element of the economies of all countries in the world, but that cultural tourism is something special. It is more than a commercial endeavor, it is an experience connected with the cultural and historical heritage, with the civilizational potential of the places one visits. He pointed out that Veliko Tarnovo enjoys the status of historical and spiritual capital of Bulgaria, and that this is no coincidence. Besides its natural assets, Veliko Tarnovo is also a city with a history, and in the not too distant future it may well come up against overtourism as some of the leading destinations in the world have done, he said further, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.
