"Boris Christoff – Ambassador of the Bulgarian Song" is the title of the concert of the opera singer Plamen Beykov and pianist Bozhena Petrova, which will take place tonight in Studio 1 of the BNR.
"The program is an attempt to reconstruct the creative ideas and searches of the great performer", says Plamen Beykov, director of the Ruse Opera and the last student of the world-famous basso Boris Christoff. In an interview with Radio Bulgaria, he says:
"When Boris Christoff's 100th anniversary was celebrated and I participated in a concert in the Bulgarian Cultural Center in Rome, where his library is also located, I buried myself in it. We had heard that he had a great interest in the Bulgarian song, that he also wanted to record, but he never realized his project. Thus, from the large amount of songs, I was able to select 20, on which he left very meaningful reviews, and some of them were even transposed for his voice and prepared for performance.”
