Bulgarian expedition to explore the "dawn of humanity" in Africa

A group of Bulgarian scientists is leaving today for the Republic of South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. On the initiative of the Explorers Club Bulgaria, the researchers will research into the origins of Homo sapiens in these places. 

The expedition will be led by the Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Geography of Sofia University, Prof. Kliment Naydenov and archaeologist prof. Nikolay Ovcharov of the D.A. Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov. 
The Republic of South Africa is the place where the first fossil of Australopithecus africanus, an extinct hominin closely related to humans, was discovered by Australian scientist Raymond Dart, state news agency BTA recalls.
