The 2024 Christmas and New Year holidays will be more than 10 days long, from December 20 to January 2, which will encourage both family and business travel, Prof Dr Rumen Draganov, director of the Institute for Analysis and Forecasting in Tourism, told BNR.

Many will take the opportunity to travel. About 100 thousand Bulgarians will choose to spend their holidays outside Bulgaria, 60% of them to visit friends and family.

In Bulgaria, revenues from overnight stays increased by 16.5 per cent in October compared to the same month last year, amounting to more than 50 million euro, of which 29 million euro came from Bulgarians, the National Statistical Institute said. 75 per cent of foreigners stay in Bulgaria's 4- and 5-star hotels, the statistics also show.
