Bulgarian snowboarder, Radoslav Yankov, has won the parallel giant slalom of the World Cup in Carezza (Italy) and made his first podium of the season.

The Bulgarian skied the red course for the first time in the qualifiers and won after his rival Tim Mastnak from Slovenia failed to finish. On the same day, 12 December, in Carezza, but back in 2015, Yankov took his first victory. The last time he won a World Cup race was in Bansko in 2017.

“It’s really important for me because I was struggling so much with back pain in so many years after my first win here in 2015. I had surgery in 2021, before the Olympics but I could not be in good form quickly, I needed time to recover. I am really happy that I have improved my riding and made it this far,” Yankov told fis-ski.com.

Earlier in the day, the Bulgarian had come up against Olympic champion Benjamin Karl of Austria in the semi-finals, who had set the fastest time in qualifying, but Yankov beat him by just 3 hundredths of a second with his familiar tactics.
