A requiem liturgy has been served in the "St. Nedelya" Cathedral by the hierarchs of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in memory of the hegumen of the Zograf Monastery, Archimandrite Ambrose. After a short illness, he left this world on January 27 in the Military Medical Academy.

With his blessing, the Zograf Monastery developed its cultural and educational activities, published hundreds of Orthodox books and publications on contemporary topics. In the church's memory, Archimandrite Ambrose will remain as a zealous monk, a clergyman gifted by God and a wise mentor to many on the path of faith. He was loved and revered by both clergy and laity.

"We have lost a zealous servant of God and a guardian of Orthodoxy, Orthodox unity and Bulgarianness, who dedicated his life to the spiritual development of the Zograf Monastery and Mount Athos," President Rumen Radev said in his condolence address.

"The death of the hegumen of the Zograf Monastery, Archimandrite Ambrose, is a huge loss for Bulgarian spirituality and for all who value and respect the spiritual heritage of Mount Athos," a message on the Facebook page of the Council of Ministers reads.

People can bow to the mortal remains of Archimandrite Ambrose until 8 p.m. in the church "St. Nedelya"
