Parliament needs to decide how voting will take place in the out-of-country constituency

Since January 1, there has been an out-of-country constituency. In the event of new parliamentary elections, it will have its own voter list. However, the issue regarding the length of the voter list will be resolved at the end of March at the earliest with amendments to the Electoral Code. It remains to be seen how many MPs will be elected in the out-of-country constituency and the methodology for forming their voter list.

The topic was discussed by experts and political representatives on February 3 at a round table in parliament. It became clear during the discussion that the number of MPs elected abroad could range from 4 to 22. It is still unclear what the exact number of Bulgarians abroad with the right to vote is, how the voters will be constituted, how voting abroad will be organized, how campaigning will be conducted there and how the Central Election Commission will control campaign financing and the submission of complaints.
