Ex-PM Boyko Borisov: Not a single Bulgarian soldier will go to Ukraine

No Bulgarian soldier will go to Ukraine. This was stated by GERB leader and ex-premier Boyko Borisov in a video statement on his Facebook page. He pointed out that this was a decision of GERB and the party's parliamentary group from June 2024 and is glad that President Rumen Radev is of the same position.
Borisov's words are in response to today's statement by President Rumen Radev that as Supreme Commander-in-Chief he is categorically against Bulgaria sending soldiers to Ukraine in any form. Borisov has voiced confidence that GERB's position will be supported by all parties in the coalition.

"This does not mean that we will not support Ukraine in its reconstruction or that we will not actively participate in all forms that contribute to peace in Ukraine and to stopping the bloodshed," the GERB leader specified, emphasizing that "Bulgarian soldiers will not die for foreign soil."

Regarding Bulgarian aid to Ukraine, he said: "We will participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine, for which there are European funds and allocated money, but no money will go out of our budget in this direction."
