Bulgaria can be a strategic partner of Japan for the region of Eastern and Central Europe. This was stated by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev as he welcomed the participants in the business breakfast organized by the Japan-Bulgaria Business Association in Sofia.
"For us, Japan is the strategic partner for the region of East Asia, mainly because we are already using its investments in the field of high technologies and in the economy with high added value," Radev added.

Japanese companies are interested in investing in Bulgaria in the energy and automotive sectors.

Today's meeting presents the activities of the Japan-Bulgaria Business Association, the development of Bulgarian-Japanese business relations, as well as information about Bulgaria's preparation and participation in the world exhibition EXPO 2025, which will be held in the Japanese city of Osaka from April 13 to October 13.

The exhibition is expected to be visited by over 28 million people. Bulgaria will have a national stand in Osaka, open to visitors for 27 weeks.

The President pointed out that Bulgaria's participation in the world exhibition in Osaka EXPO 2025 would give the countries the opportunity to demonstrate what brings them together - centuries-old cultures, ancient traditions and leading achievements in science, economy and high technologies.

In 2024, the bilateral trade turnover amounted to 269.5 million dollars, which does not correspond to the existing potential. Today's event unequivocally demonstrates our common will and desire to deepen the dialogue and even more intensively develop relations with friendly Japan, said Bulgarian Economic Minister Petar Dilov at the forum.
