On the occasion of the protest of Sofia’s public transport, Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova stated that the Ministry of Finance cannot fund personnel expenses for the municipal company "Public Transport", a BNR reporter informed. In Minister Petkova’s words, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev can restructure the budget and ensure a salary increase for the protesting public transport workers.

For his part, Bulgaria’s Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev criticized Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev for the delayed decision to declare May 14 a non-school day due to the transport strike. In this regard, Minister Valchev said that he will ask the National Assembly to limit the mayors' authority to declare non-school days, reported Tsvetelina Stoyanova.
