The 'Corner of Kosovo' has been opened at the Sts. Cyril and Methodius National Library. It brings the total number of corners dedicated to different national literatures in the 'History of the Book' hall to 36.
According to the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, this initiative is part of the library's long-term vision to become a centre of attraction for visitors and readers, a hub where the arts, literature and contemporary digital knowledge converge.
During the official opening ceremony, Kosovo's ambassador to Bulgaria, Mr Haxhi Bajraktari, said that this initiative would give new impetus to cooperation in the fields of education, science, and cultural exchange.
‘It is a real honour for us to be here, in one of the most important educational and cultural institutions with priceless archival heritage and thousands of books and manuscripts, including numerous Albanian cultural artefacts,’ the ambassador said, expressing special thanks to the director of the 146-year-old Bulgarian library, Associate Professor Dr Kalina Ivanova, for her assistance and willingness to cooperate.
The event was also attended by Dr Blerina Rogova Gaxha, director of the Pjetër Bogdani National Library of Kosovo, who described the newly opened corner as a symbol of cultural presence and a new form of cooperation. 'The books on display today represent the voice of Albanian literature and thought, as well as our desire to build bridges of cultural friendship in a united Europe that respects and values diversity,' she said.
Deepening cooperation was also a key topic of discussion during the meeting between the two national libraries' directors, who agreed to finalise the memorandum of cooperation as soon as possible.
