Weather forecast for 7 July

Heat warning issued across the country, orange code for the plains

On Tuesday, minimum temperatures will range from 18 to 25°C. In Sofia, it will be around 19°C. It will be sunny and hot during the day. Cumulus clouds will develop in the afternoon, but there is only a low chance of rain. There will be light to moderate winds from the southeast, especially in the eastern half of the country. Maximum temperatures will rise slightly to between 37 and 42°C. In the capital, temperatures will reach around 36°C. There is a heat warning issued across the country, orange code for the plains.


In the mountains, it will be sunny and warm. After midday, cumulus clouds will form and rain is expected towards the end of the day, mainly in the western part of the Stara Planina mountain range. Winds will be moderate to strong from the southwest. Maximum temperatures will be around 31°C at 1,200 metres and around 23°C at 2,000 metres.


Along the Black Sea coast, it will be sunny with light to moderate south-easterly winds. Maximum air temperatures will range from 26 to 30°C. Sea temperatures will range from 24 to 26°C. Sea conditions will be moderate, with waves reaching heights of 2 to 3 metres on the Beaufort scale.


On Wednesday, the wind will shift to the northwest in western Bulgaria overnight, strengthening and bringing cooler air. Under the influence of a passing cold atmospheric front, powerful cumulus rain clouds will develop over western and central Bulgaria. This will bring short showers and thunderstorms to many areas, accompanied by hail. Maximum temperatures will vary widely, ranging from 27–28°C in the northwest to 38–40°C in the east.
