Myara agency: Crimes and incidents continue to be a major source of tension

Social tensions from 1 July until 30 September this year are estimated at an index of 6.09, meaning “risks that are difficult to control”, on a scale of 1 to 210, indicates a survey by the sociological agency Myara, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports. The index reflects the effect of 21 different indicators carrying a different amount of weight.

According to the sociologists, the quarter was filled with negative events of a social and everyday nature such as road accidents and natural calamities, and, to a lesser degree, political and economic changes. At the same time, crimes and incidents continue to be a major source of tensions. The arrest of the mayor of Varna, which caused a considerable public uproar, has also had significant repercussions.

Tensions connected with political events will grow during the fourth quarter of the year, the sociologists from Myara say. Right before and after the adoption of the euro there may be a certain amount of tension.
