There are about 1 800 migrant children in Bulgaria, for whom international asylum applications have been filed. Among them, some 1200 are registered as unaccompanied. Out of the total number there are 1 601 minors under the age of 18 and 215 are minors below 14. This is information voiced by the head of the Child Protection Agency Eva Zhecheva. According to the law, persons below 18 cannot be compelled to remain in the refugee centers. Many of them leave these places and find themselves in the interior of the country. In 2015 there have been 460 such minors. What happens to them after that, hardly anyone can tell.
