The water flow from the karst spring that feeds the Iskretska River is slightly increasing, but this is not enough to restore the water supply to the town of Svoge.

A state of disaster has been declared since Monday as the spring has completely dried up, depriving the town and nearby villages of water. Yesterday the flow rate was 30 l/s and today it is 55 l/s, but it needs to be 130 l/s to guarantee the water supply to Svoge, which has 12,000 inhabitants.

The town's deputy mayor, Valentin Mihailov, said that the construction of two groundwater wells had begun. A pumping system will be built to supply water to Svoge. At the same time, the state reserve has allocated 100,000 litres of drinking water for the residents of the region.
