"Ukraine is still keen to buy the equipment for Bulgaria's second nuclear power plant - Belene - and is ready to pay the price we are asking," Energy Minister Rumen Radev said during an inspection of the construction of Bulgaria's gas link with Serbia.

In his words, the price will be higher than the 1.2 billion leva (about 600 million euro) set by the National Assembly. The funds received will be used for the construction of units 7 and 8 of the Kozloduy NPP with Westinghouse AP 1000 technology. The construction of the two new units will be profitable for Bulgaria, Radev said, without specifying the price.

Initially, Sofia wanted to keep part of the equipment for the needs of the two operating units of Kozloduy NPP - 5 and 6, with Russian VVER reactors.
